Up to 42% lower climate impact with Amp5
AmpSociety has commissioned an independent lifecycle analysis of the Amp5 charging system. The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is now published and shows a significantly lower climate impact than leading competitors.
The analysis was carried out by Miljögiraff, and the results have been published as a third-party verified EPD under the EPD International programme.
140.5 kg CO₂e per outlet
The analysis shows that the climate impact per outlet amounts to 140.5 kg CO₂e, with the largest share coming from raw materials and manufacturing. This is roughly equivalent to the climate impact of driving a conventional petrol car 700 to 900 kilometres.

Calculated across the full installation
Unlike many competitors, AmpSociety's calculation covers the entire installation: posts, base plates, conduit and cabling, as well as surge protection, residual current devices, main fuse and 4G router. Several leading players report only the charging unit itself, excluding the remaining installation materials.
Despite the broader scope, Amp5 has up to 42 percent lower climate impact than comparable figures from certain competitors. This is visible when EPDs are compared by calculating the carbon footprint per outlet over 10 years using the Swedish electricity mix. The comparison is based on a 10-year period – though it is worth noting that Amp5 is built to last 20 years.

"Understanding our impact, measuring it and working to improve it is something we do continuously at AmpSociety. It drives us to keep developing more sustainable products," says Henrik Fries, Head of Product at AmpSociety.
One key reason Amp5 outperforms comparable competitors is its efficient system design. By sharing materials and electronics across multiple outlets, the use of minerals and metals in electronics can be significantly reduced.
Valid until May 2031
The declaration covers an Amp5 system with 20 outlets and reports impact both per delivered kWh and per outlet. It is valid until May 2031 and is published with EPD International.
The comparison was made by AmpSociety, based on publicly available EPDs, normalised to the same functional unit and time period.
