Amp5: a game changer for electrical installers 

The benefit of modules is obvious to installers. Thorsman trunking, Plejd, quick connectors like EnstoNet and Linect. Now the same systemic shift is happening in charging infrastructure. For the installer it means halved time on site, fewer sources of error and a digital flow that takes the project from idea to order. 

Charging infrastructure has long been built as if every wallbox were its own little project – where each outlet has to be planned, installed and configured separately. In single-home projects that works well. When charging is to be built at scale, the same approach becomes increasingly hard to justify – it becomes time-consuming, hard to cost and unpredictable.

Like cable trunking – but for charging 

Amp5 is built around an aluminium profile mounted on a wall or poles, with internal wiring. There is no need for separate cable trenches between charging points, and therefore no digging or resurfacing. The working method resembles cable trunking, but adapted for charging infrastructure. The difference compared with traditional box installation is roughly that between building a house brick by brick and assembling prefabricated modules: fewer steps, less variation, higher predictability. 

Connector-based wiring 

All components are connected via prepared connectors, in the same way that quick connectors have transformed the installation of lighting. This affects not only the mounting but also the commissioning. Standardised connections reduce the risk of errors and even out the time required between projects. 

Verified times, not theory 

Amp5 is developed from actual installation steps, built on experience from more than 60,000 commissioned charging points. What we have learned means installation time can be halved compared with traditional wallbox solutions. In Norrtälje, Sweden a team of three installed and commissioned 14 pole-mounted charging outlets in a single working day – 08:00 to 14:00, including testing of residual current devices and full function checks. That came to 1.5 hours per outlet, installation and commissioning combined. The learning curve is fast: after a few projects, every installer reaches stable, predictable times.

Measure right from the start – in 3D 

The biggest time thief often sits before the spade hits the ground. This is where AmpStudio comes in: a 3D tool built on Unreal Engine (the same engine that powers Fortnite) where the entire installation is built up digitally in advance. You model the garage or car park, place the profiles and see the environment as it will actually look. When the model is finished, it automatically generates an installation drawing, a complete bill of materials (BOM) based on exact wiring and lengths, a quote and a finished order.
