AmpSociety expands to Denmark with new charging installation at award-winning Quality Hotel the Reef

Just in time for the summer of 2025, Quality Hotel the Reef reopened after a major renovation – and has already been awarded Gold in the Muse Design Awards 2025 for its interior concept. In front of the iconic hotel, guests now find 13 new Amp5 charging points, marking Swedish company AmpSociety’s first installation in Denmark.

A true upgrade in every way 

Owned by Stena Line and operated by Strawberry, Quality Hotel the Reef is a true Nordic institution with its tropical water park and more than 30 years of history. When investing in upgraded facilities, EV charging became a natural part of the modernisation – but choosing the right system was key. 

– We wanted a reliable partner with both quality and commitment. That’s why we chose the Amp5 solution from AmpSociety. It felt absolutely right to go with the most modern system – and it looks great, with the lighting reflected beautifully against the cobblestones in the parking area, says Michael Olsson, from Stena Fastigheter, who was responsible for the procurement. 

Amp5 stands out from traditional chargers through its centralised system architecture, self-healing software and redundant connectivity via both LAN and 4G. The system is made from recycled aluminium and designed for a minimum lifespan of 20 years. 

– Within the Stena Group, we work purposefully to reduce our climate footprint. Offering efficient EV charging is an important part of that mission, adds Michael Olsson. 

Smooth operation since May 

The installation has been in operation since May 2025, and Amp5 has since delivered reliable charging to hotel guests. 

“We think it turned out really well – it’s a beautiful design that fits perfectly with the hotel’s new look. The chargers work great and are used frequently by our guests, who often comment on how smart and stylish they are,” says Marianne Bredevang, General Manager at Quality Hotel the Reef. 

Strategic location for Nordic expansion 

Located only 300 metres from the Stena Line ferry terminal, Quality Hotel the Reef is a natural destination for Nordic travellers. For AmpSociety, founded in 2024 as a sister company to Sweden’s largest charging operator ChargeNode, the installation marks an important step into the Danish market. 

– Amp5 was developed to address the flaws in traditional chargers, typically designed to operate stand-alone. Amp5 is a modular system where each module is engineered to work seamlessly together, ensuring easy expansion, maximum uptime and low total cost of ownership, says Niclas Wennerholm, CEO of AmpSociety. 

Recent customers choosing Amp5 include Stena Fastigheter, Hedin Group and Stockholm Exergi. Amp5 is developed based on experience from operating over 40,000 charging points and built on the OCPP standard for full operator freedom.
